Thanks for making this site. I'm sure it will be a stop on the road to audio nirvana for a lot of people. Your work sure is and should be appreciated. Maybe you could add an option for commenting under each speaker type so people could share their impressions, recommended enclosures, tested combinations etc. It should have that "distorded letters" anti spamm thingie. I forgot how they call it. (GVL: Boris, thanks for writing to us. Any comments are wellcome and will be published but should be directed to us directly)

You have a wonderful and informative homepage. These vintage speakers I'm sure are certainly rewarding to listen to as it is to look at. My friend owns a pair of Isophons which are probably the best full bodied sounding speaker I had ever come across. Vintage speakers simply puts shame to modern day speaker technology. Speakers of the past has a unique sound like no other and definitely an option to be reckoned with. Keep up the good work!!!

Oh does this bring back memories. My first project was an isophon oval speaker mounted in an old english tea box. Was just an american kid living in Germany. My Dad, an old radio guy from pre-war CBS got me started. I still remember that wonderful sound--and it has kept me going for 50 years. Thanks for the memories.

Hi, you both made a really good job with this site! I could find many nice pics of speakers I have in my collection and many that I (sadly) haven't ... Every time I listen with old german speakers I get surprised. Better if driven with good tube amps or Grundig solid state amps from seventies. I have in my collection Blaupunkt Grundig Telefunken speakers and every time I use them it's a pleasure. Especially in the mid range their performances can be comparated with electrostatic speakers. (Quad for example) Old german speakers really deserve a site on their history and their evergreen performances. Danke! Federico Italy

It's been a while since visited your site . . .TOO LONG ! a wealth of information and inspiration. I too am hooked on Open Baffle speaker arrangements. Here in the States, the good German drivers are harder to come by (cheaply), although I have managed to secure some nice Isophon and Grundig drivers - also some from an Emud (?) console - very nice. The bulk of my OB 'playtime' is with vintahe KLH, magnavox, RCA, and Zenith drivers. My main rig is currently a Open Baffle line array using 8 vintage KLH 11 cm drivers per side - very nice midrange ! I'm starting to explore field coil drivers too (early RCA / Victor). Always learning . . . . keep up the good work : ) Mark
