Grundig 24,5 cm coaxial speaker

The basis for this project is the 24,5 cm Grundig coaxial speaker with electrostatic tweeters. The foil of the tweeter was broken and gone. So I went to work and integrated the small Isophon tweeters type 6103 with the help of a custom made, laser cut aluminum ring. The result is a HOT speaker. I'm usualy trying to avoid "HiFi talk" but in this case it must be pointed out, that this speaker unmasks bad recordings mercilessly! The bakalite tweeter chamber with it's horn-like shape is acting as a sound diffusor at the same time. Similar sound diffusors you find in many Philips drivers. The tweeters of this development have taken on a "zebra design" over the years. They were mounted behind a wooden grille; the UV light has bleached the cone only partly so that it now looks funny. DCR of voice coils: 5,6 / 5,8 Ohms. In comparison to it's 22 cm comrade I conclude that it is more direct and, on the other hand, less "intimate".

このプロジェクトの土台にしたものは、静電型トゥイーターを持つ 24.5 cm グルンディッヒの同軸スピーカーです。このトゥイーターのホイールは、破れて失われていました。そこで、改造に着手して、特注のレーザー・カットアルミニウム・リングの助けを借りて、小さなIsophonのトゥイーター、タイプ 6103 と一体化しました。その結果、「ホットな」スピーカーになりました。私は大抵「ハイ・ファイ・トーク」を避けようとしていますが、このケースでは、このスピーカーは情け容赦もなく、レコーディングの悪さを暴露してしまうことを、指摘しなければなりません。ホーンのような形状をしたトゥイーターのバック・キャビティは、同時にサウンド・デフューザーのような働きをしています。多くのフィリップスに見られるようなサウンド・デフューザーと似ています。この開発プロジェクトのトゥイーターは、長年の経年変化により縞模様が付いています。それらは、木製のグリルの後ろにマウントされており、紫外線によって部分的に変色したので、このように奇妙な柄をしているのです。全体のボイス・コイルのDCRは、5.6 と 5.8 Ohmです。22 cm 版の仲間と比較すると、よりダイレクトで、別の言い方をすれば、親しみ易さは薄れると結論致します。
